Play therapy is a therapeutic method of Psychotherapy for children aged 3 and upwards that explores a child’s natural means of expression to help them cope in their world. Play therapy helps children with their distress and helps them make sense of their world by using play and creative ways to express themselves and their experiences.

 Play therapy can be used to help children experiencing a range of different issues such as Aggression, Anxiety, Bereavement, Lack of self esteem/confidence, Bullying, Attachment Issues, Experience of Domestic Violence, Separation/Divorce, ADD/ADHD/Autism, Speech and Language, Trauma and much more.

About Me

My name is Shauna Maxwell and I am a certified Play Therapist. I have been working therapeutically with children for over 6 years. I have worked for many years in the fostering services with children in foster care and teenagers in residential care settings. I have worked with children presenting with a range of issues such as anxiety, aggression, family separation/divorce, bereavements, behavioural and emotions problems, domestic violence and trauma and attachment.  I have also  worked with numerous of families and teachers developing behavioural support plans and educating them around trauma and brain development to enhance their skill set to manage the presenting behaviours.I am passionate and enthusiastic about working with children and use holistic approach with families to achieve better outcomes for the child and family together.
